Kalev kamatahvel can be considered the traditional sweet treat of Estonia – it is unique in the entire world. Kamatahvel is a tablet made with Estonian signature kama flour, which is a mixture of wheat, rye, barley and pea flour.
Kamatahvel as cocoa free tablet, was first created by Kalev in the 1960 and gained popularity during the cocoa shortage of the late 1970s. After the crisis period the big excitment faded and Kamatahvel disappeared for two decades until 2001 Kalev relaunched the legendary tablet Kamatahvel again and it became more successful than anyone expected – people loved the familiar taste and the nostalgia. Kamatahvel does not contain hydrogenated vegetable fat or preservatives.
