Common barberry (Berberis vulgaris) is a bush, which grows in the nature near forests, shrubs and by the roads, its decorative varieties are grown in gardens and parks. Its red berries have a tart flavour and contain various beneficial nutrients. Among other uses, the berries are used to make jams, beverages and confectionery products. Kalev has been making the berberis-flavoured hard boiled candy already for over 60 years. This candy with a unique tart flavour is the most popular among Kalev’s hard boiled candies to this day.
